Stat padding is a method for mice who do not enter the hole if they miss their chance to be first, be it by killing themselves or trolling.

Mice who stat pad are willing to lose many chances of obtaining cheese and XP points in order to preserve an ideal cheese: first ratio. They would often do this by jumping off of the map, use the /mort command to stop shamans from saving them and even go so far as to move out of the room and move back, causing shamans to unable to revive them at all.

Stat Padders are frowned upon by some users due to the fact it wastes shaman materials, skills and saves altogether, making players frustrated and often leads to arguments. Favoritism also encourages stat padding. It ranges from out of selfish acts, to spite other players to even wanting to ruin the gaming experience to most players. Some counter stat pad to show spite to the stat padder.

The most efficient way to manage a stat padder is to force them to enter the hole, most commonly performed through the use of the Teleporter skill and/or Easy Victory skill. Some shamans will prevent the stat padder from getting first place by using the Stop! skill to freeze everyone, then teleport the stat padder to the unsafe area to kill them and revive them later to force them to the hole. Shamans also use the Earth Symbol and Spidermouse skills to trap the stat padders into unable to get first place. In Map 94, shamans will force all the mice into "ping wars" by using crates or other methods to cramp them into one spot before using portals to force them into the hole, making good use of handling stat padders.

As of V1.194, mice who captured the cheese before dying will keep their cheese when revived with the Ambulance skill, thus, when revived, will be forced to enter the hole if they captured the cheese beforehand. This is also a good method to manage stat padders.
